The checks are fake, the seller is actually only getting a piece of paper, not a real check. Scammer asks the seller to pay to ship the item, using the extra money included in the fake check. If the seller falls for this scam, the scammer will get the advertised item free, and the seller will end up paying to ship the item to the scammer (since the check was fake). So the seller will lose the advertised item and the money to ship it to the scammer. Don't fall for this scam!! If you are contacted in this manner, and feel it may be a scammer, contact your local Police Department.
